HAND-HARVESTED AROMATICS FOR WILD LIVES
DRIED LAVENDER – MADE THE HARD WAY
Rooted in a Distinctively Western Ethos
When you shop Cowgirl Lavender, you’re saying a resounding hell no to a life saddled with quick-shipped creature comforts and cheap thrills. Instead? You’re aligning with an Old West mentality where life is subject to the slow, seasonal rhythms of the natural world.
It’s a life where pleasure is a long game preceded by planning, effort, and commitment. And where little luxuries are savored knowing they didn’t come easily.

WORK HARD & BREATHE DEEPLY
Cowgirl Lavender was founded on the idea that there’s a certain satisfaction in doing things the hard way.
[ GROWN FOR YOU UNDER WESTERN SKIES ]
From harvesting to drying, separating to sifting, every aspect of production is done fully by hand by a certain blonde cowgirl and her trusty steed Scout
THE (PAINSTAKING) PROCESS:
[01]
Plant
All Cowgirl Lavender is organically grown on a tiny coastal farm overlooking a wooded canyon and sparkling blue stretch of the Pacific. Lavender’s growing requirements: sandy soil, no fertilizer, and almost no watering because this scrappy little plant likes to tough it out.
[02]
Harvest
By early summer, the lavender has turned a deep, fragrant purple and the lavender field is humming with thousands of bees. To avoid disturbing the friendly neighborhood pollinators, harvesting takes place during the cool morning hours and just before sunset.
[03]
Dry
The freshly harvested lavender is then bundled into bouquets and hung upside down in a cool, dark space. Over the course of several weeks, the lavender drops any loose petals while the buds deepen in color and scent.
[04]
Separate
Once the lavender is fully dried around the five-week mark, the buds are ready to be removed from the stems. This is accomplished by hand – of course – by rubbing the lavender firmly against a wire screen while a bucket catches all the precious buds.
[05]
Sift
Stem fragments often end up in the bud bucket, so the next step is about filtering out the excess. To do so, the buds are poured onto a second screen with a finer mesh. Tapping or shaking the screen releases the buds back into the bucket while leaving stems on the surface of the screen.
[06]
Bundle
With the lavender officially dried and purified, it’s ready for bundling. Each bundle of lavender is carefully measured out to the gram and tucked into little bags made of hand-stamped, unbleached muslin.
